Veterans and Service Personnel

Purcell Taylor has a long tradition of fighting for the rights of Veterans and the men and women of Australia’s Defence Forces.

Since its inception, Purcell Taylor has vigorously pursued Veterans’ claims in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and the Federal Court, with an extremely high degree of success. The firm has also acted for current and past service personnel in relation to superannuation scheme classification adjustments, military compensation and seeking to review reasons for discharge for superannuation purposes.

We have represented Veterans from World War II to East Timor; with service in wars, war like conditions, operational service, peacekeeping duties and defence service amongst others.

Purcell Taylor has a close association with Veterans and veteran’s services and can assist veterans at all stages of their claim (note – lawyers are not allowed to appear in Veterans’ Review Board hearings but can provide advice before the hearing).

The Administrative Appeals Tribunal, which reviews Repatriation Commission decisions on veteran pensions (including special rate [TPI] claims), travels to Townsville 2 – 3 times per year, depending on the volume of claims to be resolved.

Purcell Taylor can advise you on your prospects of success, organise legal aid to fund appeals, appear at telephone conferences, manage your case, prepare statements and represent you at the final hearing before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

Purcell Taylor is North Queensland’s leading Veterans’ law firm.
