Michael Purcell

Michael PurcellMichael Purcell is a founding Principal of Purcell Taylor Lawyers. Michael was admitted as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of Queensland in February 1981.

Prior to establishing Purcell Taylor Lawyers, Michael worked in private practice and for government authorities, practicing in all areas of law. Michael was previously the Assistant Director of the Legal Aid Office (Queensland) for North Queensland, the Public Solicitor for the Republic of Vanuatu and a consultant to the Policy and Legislative Division of the Queensland Government Department of Justice and Attorney-General.

Michael currently practices in the area of family law and is an accredited Independent Children’s Lawyers in the family and federal magistrates court and a separate representative in the State Children’s Court. He deals with all aspects of family law, including divorces, property settlements and disputes regarding children.

Michael also practices in the area of appeals to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal particularly in regards to Veterans’ Affairs. Michael works closely with veterans in Townsville and surrounding areas who are seeking a pension from the Repatriation Commission.Michael also maintains a practice in criminal law.
