Townsville criminal lawyer’s ‘Justice’ rewards
Townsville criminal lawyer Jamie Scuderi continues to shine amongst her peers, again named on the Doyles Guide list of Queensland’s Criminal Law Rising Stars.

It’s the third straight year the Townsville lawyer, a Senior Associate at Purcell Taylor Lawyers, has been recognised in the category.
The Doyles Guide is an independent directory which showcases Australia’s best firms and lawyers, drawing on the findings of surveys and interviews conducted amongst clients, industry peers and relevant bodies.
Jamie said she was humbled to again be recognised, but for her, the real rewards came from making a difference.
“It’s always nice to achieve recognition, but personally, using my knowledge and experience to see the Law applied in an appropriate manner to achieve justice, is what it’s really all about,” Ms Scuderi said.
“I would like acknowledge the Purcell Taylor Lawyers team, in particular directors Andrew and Melody, for their ongoing support and mentorship,” she said.
“Enjoying what you do and doing it well is made all the more easier when you have firm support around you.”
Jamie, originally from Stanthorpe, completed her Bachelor of Laws in conjunction with a Bachelor or Criminology and Criminal Justice in 2012 at Griffith University and was admitted in the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2014.
Since her admission, Jamie has practiced in the Queensland jurisdiction, having been employed with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions before transitioning to private practice.
She has appeared before the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts, and has instructed Counsel in all types of criminal hearings including the Court of Appeal.
Jamie is also a mentor with the Women’s Lawyers Association of Queensland mentoring program and is an Official Visitor (Legal) – a statutory appointment to visit and assist prisoners.
Purcell Taylor Lawyers Director and leading Townsville Criminal Lawyer Andrew Peel said Jamie’s ongoing accolades did not come as a surprise.
“Jamie has a reputation for adopting a strategic, comprehensive and pragmatic approach to her work,” Mr Peel said.
“She is the ultimate professional, and her hard work and dedication to her clients, the Law and our team is undeniable,” he said.
“All of that, combined with her compassion and her personal and professional integrity makes her a standout amongst her peers.
“We are incredibly proud of and pleased for Jamie, and we can’t wait to see what else she can achieve throughout her career to come.”
