Teagan West

Teagan is an experienced family lawyer who completed her Bachelor of Laws with honours at QUT in Brisbane.  Teagan’s practice has focused predominantly in family law matters including parenting and property law matters, care and protection matters, and domestic and family violence issues working in private practice, public sector and Legal Aid, in NSW, ACT and Queensland. 

She has a particular interest and love for assisting clients in family law, recognising how challenging this time can be. Teagan's down-to-earth, knowledgeable and empathetic approach helps her support clients through these difficult situations.

Teagan’s experience in family law has been varied and has included cases such as:

• Assisting parents in urgent relocation applications in situations where parents need to move away with a child.  Relevant situations include where a parent needs to return back to the place they call home, or a parent is escaping a domestically violent relationship;
• Numerous recovery order applications.  These have included situations where a parent has withheld a child from contact with the other parent.  These applications are often extremely urgent, and Teagan has had a high level of success in such applications.  Teagan appreciates that these matters require urgent action;
• Property settlement matters, including assisting clients to reach agreement at mediation and also proceeding to a hearing when a fair and just settlement cannot be reached;
• Drafting Binding Financial Agreements and Binding Child Support Agreements;
• Work in all aspects in child safety matters, including representing children;
• Domestic and Family Violence violence matters for applicants and respondents, including negotiating settlements and running matters through to hearing.

Teagan focuses on listening carefully to her clients and understanding their individual circumstances and goals. This thoughtful approach helps her plan a course of action that best suits their needs. She ensures that her clients are well informed and understand the law and their rights.
